Zohan Barkur
Secretary General
DIAMUN 2015
On behalf of Dubai International Academy and the entire DIAMUN Team, it is an honour as this year’s Secretary General to welcome you to the seventh annual session of Dubai International Academy Model United Nations.

The theme for DIAMUN 2015 is International Migration – Scope, Complexity and Impact in the 21st Century, embodying the significance and consequences of a globalised world we currently immerse. Due to the high magnitude of current migration flows, it has been placed under high priority within the agenda of the international community. From dealing with the economic burden placed on government expenditures and labour markets, to the need to aid refugees fleeing their homes in search of better lives, international migration has had a profound affect over an array of economic, political, and social aspects of nations worldwide.

"Education is the most powerful weapon with which you can change the world," and as DIAMUN continues its journey to educate participants on global issues, and international diplomacy to shape the leaders of tomorrow, it is our pleasure to introduce two new committees at DIAMUN 2015 – The Nuclear Security Summit and a simulation of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates. In addition to the already existing, African Union, World Economic Forum and League of Arab States, DIAMUN 2015 promises to provide delegates with a unique experience of highly specialised committees alongside the existing UN bodies to enhance the overall conference experience for each individual involved.

Former Secretary General Kofi Annan once said, "We have the means and the capacity to deal with our problems, if only we can find the political will," and with that I wish each esteemed delegate involved in this conference the best of luck tackling these issues, and finding that political will to provide concrete solutions to benefit all individuals involved.
